The Old Navy

So, I have a few moments to write now that the offspring is sleeping.

The other day I decided to take a quick jaunt to Old Navy. Mind you, it had been weeks since I’d been out on my own. I had given up on going anywhere by myself as I never failed to show up at my door step very disappointed. ANYWAY, I decided that the child needed to spend some time outdoors and that I needed to spend some time outdoors with my child. So off to Old Navy we went. Why I chose Old Navy I still don’t know, guess it just seemed like the quickest/slightly interesting/closest point from home I could go without it becoming an emotional-something because I knew what to expect.

What never fails to shock and surprise me is the constant lack of social courtesy that seems to run rampant in (I would say the world, but I only know American society) the States.

I was having a very pleasant time in the baby clothes clearance section when a woman came from out of nowhere with her two very loud children, they must’ve thought they somewhere else like Walmart or Denny’s, and they stand 12 inches from where I’m standing. There was nobody else there, did she have to choose the same tile I was standing on? So, I verbally excuse myself and move along. She follows me. Wicked woman. I verbally excuse myself even louder and move along. She says, “Oh, no problem”, and skooches closer as if it’s me who is causing the congestion in the aisle I WAS HERE FIRST! I left. I have zero tolerance for these women who act as if they are entitled to the entire damn store. Wench.

I had a few selections in my arms and decided I’d better call it good before someone else happens. I ask the cashier lady how long the sale will be going on. She says, “What sale?” in the snarkiest attitude she could muster which is dim compared to the ‘snark’ I’ve long locked away. She had no idea. Now I understand getting asked the same question all day long. I’ve been there, I get it. All I ask is that you know who you’re being stupid with. I replied, “Seeing as though I don’t work here I don’t know exactly what the sale is called or whether you have multiple sales going on at this time. If you’re not going to answer my simple question don’t bother with any response to me at all.” She then said, “They usually start on Wednesdays and go til Friday.” My reply, “Now, if you were going to give me such a generic answer, why did you need a specific question?” That was a rhetorical question that didn’t need an answer, so I left.

For the first time since we moved here I arrived home as happy as could be.  I went back yesterday.
