Evil Invitations.

They’re out, people. Mostly, I’m just glad it’s over.

This little detail has been such a battle for us. For me. For him. For the cat. For everyone. And someday soon we will be able to look back and laugh hysterically, but for now it is such a sigh of relief.

Rustin had such wonderful ideas for this little craft project. I mean, visions that would put the best wedding planner to shame. In its earliest form, they were to be delivered in a hand-crafted package of some sort. That idea was scratched due to budget. Then there was the idea of them being letter-pressed on layered paper with torn edges and a customized wax seal. We got the awesome paper that would be perfect for letter-press and the customized seal. But the letter-press idea was scratched due to budget. Honestly, it is the only way to do invitations, but when it costs as much as my dress there is a problem.

This is only to illustrate the million life forms this particular object took on in a matter of weeks. Not to mention the problems we had with getting them printed, and deciding on the layout, and stores being out of sealing wax (particularly in the color we needed), and barely having enough wax for how many invitations we needed, and wondering if perhaps we should try candle wax instead, and failing. Failing.

I realize that I’m probably the only female on this here planet that is not interested in these details. Sure, I want them to look nice but it’s an invitation. To a party. On paper. That will most likely be thrown away. I just had no emotional ties going into this project. I do have to say though that I cannot be happier with how they’ve turned out. Perhaps my view is flawed because it was such a tough battle that there being an end in sight is more magical to me than anything else. But really… I’m just beyond words. They’re perfect. They are designed and formatted by Rustin himself; they’re very creative, and very different from anything I’ve ever seen. Just thinking about how much time he’s put into them, and making sure every detail is just right is truly touching.

So, no emotional attachment going into it, but coming out of it… I am incredibly proud to say that my betrothed made them. He made them. And I don’t know any other girl who can say the same. I just can’t say this enough…

Thank-You, Rustin.

I just got the invitation, and it is ridiculously badass. I cannot bring myself to break the seal.

  2. Aww.. thanks love. I’m very glad that you like ‘em.

@laura – Very happy to hear that. badassery was the goal.

So, when exactly did you send them out? I haven’t received it as of today.

That is very odd…. They’ve been out for exactly one week (we sent them out last tuesday). If you don’t see it tomorrow then I will start to worry.

Amber: We sent them out on the 26th of Feb.

Yea, you’re not the only one who hasn’t received theirs yet. It seems we’re having a bit of trouble with our friendly U.S. Postal Service. We just can’t win with these friggin’ invites :/
